Tuesday May 8 - At a Glance: A Day in the Life of Broadway South

6:00 AM
• I sit for a radio interview with WWL radio and promote the Broadway South initiative on the air.

9:00 AM
• I appear before the House Ways and Means Committee. This is the first time we present to the house. It is a very successful affair, attended by Mayor Nagin and by Councilman President Arnie Fielkow. I feel very good about the presentation. We open the session and are granted more than an hour of time, which is great for us. And again we hope this will be the first step in the House toward their recommendation for passage.

12:00 Noon
• At noon after the House Ways and Means presentation, I attended a luncheon in the Capital Building for a Jefferson Parish presentation. I make a similar presentation and having previously received a proclamation of endorsement from the Jefferson Parish City Council, we are now officially added to the Jefferson Parish legislative agenda. Immediately after, a New Orleans delegation luncheon is held and hosted by Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu with Mayor Nagin in attendance. Mayor Nagin, having supported the initiative in the House earlier, continued the Broadway South momentum by speaking passionately about the plan at the luncheon. The Mayor is really doing his part to support Broadway South and I thank him for his efforts.

6:00 PM
• A New Orleans delegation party is held at the Governor’s Mansion where we continue to raise the awareness for the initiative. We see many people from the committee meetings held earlier in the day. And that night I have dinner with Senator Julie Quinn of New Orleans to give her a focused breakdown of the Broadway South legislation. She promises to join as a co-author of the legislation broadening the support of Broadway South!
