Thursday April 12 - Roger travels to New York City to court Theatre Producers
12:00 PM
• Meet with Nick Scandalios, EVP, Nederlander Organization, New York City
Nederlander is one of the largest theatrical organizations in the world and this is a very important meeting for Broadway South. Getting Nederlander’s support, showing folks in Louisiana that New York’s Broadway producers have an interest in the idea, is a major step to set Broadway South in motion. After presentation with some reservations about how New Orleans could become a large theatrical hub, Mr. Scandalios accepts the concept and agrees to write a letter of support for Broadway South to the Louisiana legislature.
3:00 PM
• Meet with Araca Group – Producers of “Wicked”
The Araca Group is the producer of the one of the biggest theatrical hits in the last decade, “Wicked.” This again a meeting where there is original doubt about how the incentives would work, New Orleans as a viable market, etc., but upon further discussion, the executive leadership of Araca sign on to the idea and offer a letter of recommendation for the Broadway South initiative. Between the noon meeting with Nick Scandalios and the 3:00 PM meeting with the Araca Group, Broadway South has gotten the interim support of two of the biggest players in the theatrical world.
